The Science of Natural Acquisition
At TOBE JQ, we reject the "memorize and repeat" cycle. Our pedagogical approach is rooted in Second Language Acquisition (SLA) research, shifting the focus from passive study to active, functional competence in Mexico City’s living laboratory.
Why Our Methods Work
We utilize a direct instruction model that prioritizes the communicative approach. This means class time is dedicated to high-frequency usage, ensuring that grammatical structures are "acquired" through context rather than just "learned" as abstract rules.
The Direct Method
We eliminate the "translation bridge." By using visual cues, pantomime, and contextual clues, we encourage students to think directly in the target language from day one, accelerating neural mapping.
Social Interplay
Language is a social instrument. Our sessions are built around cooperative tasks—solving problems, debating culture, and negotiating meaning—which creates a high-stakes, high-reward environment for usage.
Cognitive Framing
We provide clear "scaffolding" for every lesson. Students are never lost; they are guided from simple recognition to structured production, and finally to creative, independent expression.
The TOBE JQ Standard
Our methodology is aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), ensuring that your progress is measurable and globally recognized.

Phase 01
Comprehensible Input
We curate materials that are just one level above your current proficiency (i+1). This ensures that while you are challenged, the language remains accessible. We use authentic Mexican media—podcasts, news, and literature—to ground your learning in reality.
Phase 02
Guided Output & Real-time Feedback
Correction is handled with clinical precision. We don't interrupt the flow of thought; instead, our instructors use "recasting"—repeating your statement correctly—to model proper usage without discouraging the speaker.
Phase 03
Cultural Synthesizing
Language is inseparable from the culture that breathes it. Our methodology integrates local idioms, Mexican social etiquette, and historical context, preparing you to navigate CDMX as a participant rather than an observer.
Assessment Without Anxiety
We believe transparency is key to academic success. You will always know exactly where you stand and what is required to reach the next milestone.
Formative Tracking
Weekly check-ins ensure that small misunderstandings don't become structural gaps. We adjust the pace of the curriculum to match the group's specific dynamic.
Portfolio Evaluation
Instead of a single high-pressure exam, we evaluate a body of work including presentations, written journals, and recorded dialogues to see true growth.
Experience the difference.
